"Oh my!" As one of my all time favorite sports announcers would exclaim when something amazing or crazy would happen during a football game. Anyway, here we are a few years down the road. The last post was in February 2020, just before the COVID pandemic struck. It's been a crazy two years since then.
Running has been a bit of a challenge over the past two years. In 2020 I was training for the Snow Canyon half marathon and I had a bout of achilles tendonitis that took me down. In 2021 I was training again and I developed morton's neuropathy in my left foot. That caused me to go on a wild shoe shopping/hunting spree to try and find a shoe or shoes that would allow me to run, yet not suffer the effects of the neuropathy. For those of you that don't know what morton's neuropathy is, it is a feeling of your sock balling up under the ball of your foot, or the feeling that a pebble is lodged under the ball of your foot.
My shoe search led me to the following shoes that I love and they seem to work...although they haven't gone past three miles, yet. They are: Hoka One One Clifton 7, Saucony Triumph 18, and New Balance 1080v10. I tried another 15 or so brands and models but these three seemed to feel the best.
Anyway, here I am at 64 years of age training for another half marathon attempt. Yes, the Snow Canyon one. Hopefully I will be able to make it relatively pain free and complete the race. Time will tell...
Until the next update - happy trails to you!
