Week 2

Was able to run a little over 5 miles today...actually felt really good. I started planning to run 1.5 miles, but still had energy so ran for a few more. Feel like I am making good progress, but need to improve speed.

Week 1

Back in the gym everyday this week. Knees are hurting again and I am hoping to get over that again soon. I was able to do the eliptical everyday for 2 miles. Hoping to get back into running this week.

Why Not

Long time since I wrote on here! I haven't run for nearly a year between pregnancy and having a newborn, but now that I have been given the okay I am feeling that I need to start up again. I am committing to myself to start the training process again tomorrow and get a plan in mind for how to prepare for a marathon come next October (St George or another if I do not make it in). Wish me luck! Starting at ground zero...

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to you guys out there. I can't believe it has been four months since my last post. After a foot injury and just lack of desire to continue long runs...I stopped the try to run the Ogden Marathon. While I still see people running and wanting to do that, my mental capacity to actually push myself to do it just isn't there. Oh well...

This may be my last post...so if it is, Happy Trails to you!

Maybe, Just Maybe I Can Make the Marathon

I went out and ran five miles this morning. Longest run since early November last year. I have increased my long runs by a mile each Saturday now and plan to do the same for the next four Saturdays, then try to jump to increasing at a rate of two miles each Saturday until the first of May. Then back off and see where I am.

Of course, injuries, work, family, and other things may blow all that for me, but at least it is a plan. There is still a way outside chance I might be able to pull of the Ogden Marathon in May if everything goes just right. Highly unlikely, but there is a chance.

I guess I will just keep plugging along and see where I am in a month or so.

Until then, happy trails to you (and me too).

Back At It, Too Late?

I ran 3.6 miles this morning with no knee pain. It felt good, although it was very slow due to the lack of running the past 10 days (knee pain, super cold, bad air). The treadmill just doesn't cut it.

I was encouraged by this morning's run thinking I still have an outside shot at being able to run the Ogden marathon, assuming no injuries or illness take me down for a week or so. No more breaks in training or I won't be able to do it.

Until next time...happy trails to you.

Training Setback

Ouch! Right knee pain...only when running and planting my foot though. No pain when walking. Also, the air quality is really bad again. So on to the treadmill (ugh!). Walking on the treadmill at a 6% grade is pretty taxing on the cardio. I also started doing some strength training to see if that might help some of my ailments. I am trying to get the pain out of my knee and get the pain out of my right shoulder...I have no idea where that came from.

I am really starting to worry about my ability to get ready for the Ogden marathon. I will try to get out and run this next week. I have already had to adjust my training schedule three times since the start of January. How frustrating.

Well, until next time, happy trails to you.

New Year, Here We Go!

Wow, I have been down sick for the last two weeks with a variety of bronchial and intestinal disorders. I finally feel healthy again and back to running this morning. Ouch! I am really starting over again. When I compare todays distance and time to a year ago, I am back where I started. I hope I can bounce back and stay healthy, the Ogden marathon is not too far away. Here we go! Let's do it.
