I think you get the picture. Running for me must be what like quitting smoking is for a smoker. You keep trying, fail, keep trying, fail, keep trying and on and on until hopefully it permanently sticks. Today I started running again. 3.12 miles at an agonizingly slow pace (less than 13 minutes per mile). I hope my left achilles tendon will let me continue...that was my downfall last fall. After today, I could tell it was much better, but I always have that thought in the back of my mind that it may rupture. We shall see.
Up until today, I had been doing quite well walking. I averaged nearly 8,000 steps a day since January. I also periodically used a stationary bike and rode for 30 minutes a clip. So it's not like I'm a complete couch potato.
Right now I have two short term goals: 1) Do the worldwide 5k on May 28 (sponsored by Run Tracker) and 2) a 5k on June 3 in St. George at 11 p.m.
Brittany has challenged me (berating me to buttercup status - see the Three Amigos for more information) to running another half marathon later in the year. If I can stay injury free and motivated...there is a chance I won't wear the buttercup title.
That is my update for now...until next time...Happy Trails to You!
