Day 2--Brittany

Whohoo Kevin (or should I say Marathon Man)...that is good time on your 3 miles!! Hope your run went well this morning!

Today was my first time running 4 miles...KAPOW! I did stop and do a brisk walk for a quarter mile or so. Total time was about 47 minutes (need to get that pace up!). Feeling good, didn't feel winded, but I did start to get a minor side ache, maybe I should eat something better prior to running. Suggestions??

  1. Nice, job. Don't worry about the pace thing...that will come later in the training as your anaerobic capacity builds up on your longer runs (your shorter runs will become much faster). About the side ache thing...that is usually a breathing issue (not breathing enough through your nose and too much through your mouth). Eating...I would suggest a light something before you go for your run like a Powerbar and some water or something similar. Whatever you do, no milk products before a run! You will get what is called cotton mouth (very dry mouth). It makes your run yucky.
